I doubt Alex is coming back. I feel bad about stealing his food but this is about survival. Perhaps I'd feel better if he did come back and killed me for it, I don't know. I never realised how much he knew about history. He has a hidden back room that's full of datapads and different objects that look like the journal I found. They are different sizes and colours. I only found the room because the door was open. I worked out that he uses a data pad to control the lock but the control is password encrypted. I can't close or barricade the door properly when the raiders appear and I'm always scared they will find this room. They never do but I don't want them to find it because I'm scared they will take the datapads for parts and destroy the journals. If I can work out the password then I can study in peace. I need that password.

Some research has uncovered a significance of the day. It seems December
25th was a public holiday of some sort. I've been reading bits of the 300 year
old journal I found. I can’t read it all in one go though. Looting parties have
been appearing at least 4 times a day. No doubt attracted to the house for
possible food or supplies that they can get. Lucky I got here first and hid
them for myself. I have enough food to last me 2 weeks. Then I need to do some
more looting of my own. I hate this. Every day I wake up I wish it was just a
bad dream. But it's not. It's a nightmare that never ends. Sometimes I almost
want to shout to the raiders so that they kill me for the stuff I have, but I
don't.
